Ben Nevis, Inverness-shire
Ben Nevis (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Nibheis) is a mountain (4,412 ft) situated at the western end of the Grampian Mountains in the Lochaber area of Inverness-shire, close to Fort William. It is the highest mountain in the British Isles. The summit features the ruins of an observatory, which was permanently staffed between 1883 and 1904. It is within the council area of Highland.
