Belsay Castle, Northumberland
Belsay Castle is a 14th-century mediæval castle in Northumberland. The Middleton family has lived at Belsay almost continuously since the 13th century. They are first recorded there in 1270, when Sir Richard de Middleton, Lord Chancellor to King Henry III, owned the estate. It was abandoned as a residence by the family in the early 19th century. It is within the council area of Northumberland.
