Bell's Close, Northumberland

Bell's Close is a former village which is now an urban area in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. It lies on the River Tyne between Scotswood and Lemington. Originally little more than a farm, by the 19th century, Bell's Close had grown into a small settlement of terraced houses and cottages along the riverside, surrounded by clay and coal mines (including Montague Colliery), brickworks, copperas works and other factories. It is within the council area of Newcastle upon Tyne.
