Belfast Lough, Antrim / Down

Belfast Lough is a large sea lough which forms part of the border between County Antrim (northern shore) and County Down (southern shore). At its head is the city and port of Belfast, which sits at the mouth of the River Lagan. The lough opens into the North Channel and connects Belfast to the Irish Sea. The northern shore (County Antrim) lies within the council areas of Mid and East Antrim, Antrim and Newtownabbey and Belfast, the southern shore (County Down) lying within the council areas of Areas and North Down and Belfast.
