Beddington, Surrey

Beddington is a suburban town in Surrey. Domesday refers to two mills at Beddington, one of which is believed to have been on the site of the extant 18th century Beddington Mill. Beddington Park (now Carew Manor School) was the manor house of the Carew family. Within the park is the 14th century flint church of St Mary. Prior to the 19th century, Beddington was a larger settlement than Wallington, which formed a hamlet in the west of Beddington parish. Whilst Wallington grew rapidly from the late 19th century, Beddington only saw significant suburban development from the inter-war period. The town is within the council area of Sutton.
