Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire
Beaconsfield is a market town in Buckinghamshire. The town is recorded as 'Bekenesfeld' in property returns of 1185. The Old Town lies along the main road from London to Oxford (A40). The Old Town has Georgian, neo-Georgian and Tudor revival architecture and several old coaching inns. The New Town developed to the north around Beaconfield railway station, opened 1906. Bekonscot Model Village and Railway is a model village built in the 1920s at a scale of one inch to one foot. Beaconsfield Film Studios operated from 1922 to 1971 since when it has been the site of the National Film and Television School. The town is within the council area of Buckinghamshire.
