Beacon Lough, Durham
Beacon Lough is an urban area in Gateshead, County Durham. A 20th-century development, Beacon Lough is built on land which formed part of the High Fell area of Gateshead Fell. The name is much older, referring to was one of the series of warning beacons established by Queen Elizabeth I's reign. It is within the council area of Gateshead.
