The Battery Bank is a series of linear earthworks which extend discontinuously over about 3.5 miles along the plateau dividing the rivers Piddle and Frome in Dorset. Although not firmly dated, the monument is likely to be of Romano-British or Dark Age date; and given the wide gaps in its alignment, demarcation is perhaps a more likely interpretation for the bank, than stock control or defence. The section on South Heath near East Stoke comprises a linear bank composed of earth, sand and turf, with maximum dimensions of 2,230ft in length, 26ft in width and approximately 2-3ft in height. This section of the monument is within the council area of Dorset.
