Batley, Yorkshire

Batley is a market town in Yorkshire, in the West Riding. Formerly a major centre for textiles and mining, its traditional industries are much declined. All Saints' Church dates from the 15th century, was much restored in the 19th century and is grade I listed. Bagshaw Museum, in Wilton Park, is housed in an elaborate Gothic Revival mansion. The town is within the council area of Kirklees.
