Basildon Park, Berkshire
Basildon Park is an 18th-century country house, situated between Upper Basildon and Lower Basildon in Berkshire. The house was built between 1776 and 1783 for Sir Francis Sykes and designed by John Carr in the Palladian style. The house stood empty for such of the 20th century until purchased in 1949 by Lord and Lady Iliffe who spent 25 years renovating it before donating it to the National Trust. It is within the council area of West Berkshire.
