Baschurch, Shropshire
Baschurch is a large village in Shropshire. The earliest references to Baschurch are under the Welsh name Eglwyssau Bassa (Churches of Bassa) where the king or prince Cynddylan is said to have been buried in the early 7th century. The English name appears in Domesday as 'Bascherche'. The Church of All Saints dates from the 12th century and was restored by Thomas Telford in 1790. The Berth Pool and its ancient earthworks outside the village are held by local tradition to be the resting place of King Arthur. The village is within the council area of Shropshire.
