Barry, Glamorgan

Barry is a town in Glamorgan. Once a small village, it grew significantly from the 1880s with the development of Barry Docks, which in 1913 was the largest coal port in the world. Although still a port, Barry is more of a manufacturing town and as a service centre. It is best known nationally as a seaside holiday resort, specifically as to Barry Island, where there is a fine beach and pleasure park. It is within the council area of The Vale of Glamorgan.
