Baronscourt, Tyrone

Baronscourt is a late 18th-century Neo-classical country house in the townland of Barons Court, County Tyrone. Baronscourt is the caput or chief residence of the Dukes of Abercorn. The current Baronscourt was originally designed by George Steuart in 1778. It was remodelled and extended around 1790 by Sir John Soane, then further remodelled around 1835 by William Morrison. It was further remodelled and reduced in size by Sir Albert Richardson around 1945. The house is set in an extensive demesne. The house is seven bays wide and three stories high with a loggia of coupled Tuscan columns and a rotunda at the centre of the plan. The house is within the council area of Derry City and Strabane.
