Barkingside (formerly Barking Side) is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in the north of Ilford, Essex. Barking Side was formerly a linear settlement on the western side of Hainault Forest. The area developed a suburb in the 20th century following the opening of Barkingside railway station. The orginal location of Barking Side lies at the far north of the current suburban area. The area is within the council area of Redbridge.
