Barbican, Devon

The Barbican is an urban area in Plymouth, Devon. The area covers the western side of Sutton harbour and is roughly equivalent in area to the mediæval walled town of Sutton. The area has retained many cobbled streets and historic buildings. The Plymouth Gin Distillery has been operating since 1793. The Mayflower Steps are close to the site where the Pilgrim Fathers are believed to have left England on 6th September 1620. The Barbican is within the council area of Plymouth.
