Bannockburn Battlefield, Stirlingshire

Bannockburn Battlefield is the site of the Battle of Bannockburn (23-24th June 1314) near Whins of Milton, Stirlingshire. The battle was between the armies of Robert the Bruce and Edward II, during the First War of Scottish Independence. It was a decisive victory for Bruce, forming a major turning point in the war. The battlefield is within the council area of Stirling.
