Balmoral, Antrim

Balmoral is a suburban area in the south of Belfast, County Antrim. It is within the townlands of Malone Upper and Malone Lower, in the civil parish of Shankill. Balmoral Railway Station opened in 1858. This is thought to be the first usage of the name in the south Belfast area. By 1889, Stockman's Lane had been renamed Balmoral Avenue and the suburb of Balmoral was developing to the south and east of the railway station. Balmoral is within the council area of Belfast.
