Ballywalter is a village, located on the east coast of the Ards Peninsula in County Down. It is within the townland of Ballywalter, in the civil parish of Ballywalter. The village was formed around wind mills in the 17th century. Though the current Ballywalter Presbyterian Church dates from 1850, the congregation dates back to the 17th century origins of the village. The stone harbour was constructed from 1851, the Lifeboat Station in 1866. Ballywalter House (c.1846) is a classic example of an early Victorian Country House in the Palazzo style. The village is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
