Ballyvester House, Down

Ballyvester House is a large, originally 17th century, gabled farmhouse, situated within the townland of Ballyvester, in the civil parish of Donaghadee, County Down. The house dates back at least as far as 1624. The present house is largely a product of the early 18th-century, with the earlier house remodelled with the addition of the eastern section, the repositioning of the stair and the introduction of the large ‘reception’ room, with dummy windows included to give the impression of early Georgian symmetry. A further major alteration occurred around 1890 when the rear return was added. The house is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
