Ballymacash, Antrim

Ballymacash is a suburban area in Lisburn, County Antrim. It is within the townland of Ballymacoss, in the civil parish of Derryaghy. The area was largely rural until the mid 20th century. Ballymacash House was originally built in the 1680s and was rebuilt by Phillip Johnson in 1790. Ballymacash school was originally built in 1790 and was rebuilt in 1828. St Mark's Church (C of I) was dedicated in 1892. The area was transformed from the 1970s with large-scale suburban development. St Mark's Church was rebuilt in 1975 in response to the growing population. Elmwood Presbyterian Church and Lisburn United Reformed Church also date from the era of suburban development. The Ballymacoss area is within the council area of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
