Ballygowan, Down
Ballygowan is a village, lying on the Ballygowan River in County Down. It is within the townland of Ballygowan, in the civil parish of Killinchy. Ballygowan was a hamlet around the main cross roads in Ballygowan townland until the mid 19th century. The village began to grow after the opening of Ballygowan Railway Station in 1858. The village has seen large-scale suburban development since the mid 20th century. Trinitarian Presbyterian Church opened in 1838. The village is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
