Avebury, Wiltshire

Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury, Wiltshire. The monument forms part of a World Heritage Site, and lies in an area with a concentration of major funerary and ceremonial prehistoric monuments (e.g. Silbury Hill, Windmill Hill, West Kennett long barrow and the Santuary). The monument includes the henge as defined by its earthen bank and internal ditch containing a large stone circle within the henge, two smaller stone circles within the enclosure, along with the stone setting known as The Cove. It is within the council area of Wiltshire.
