Ashley Down, Gloucestershire

Ashley Down is a suburban area in the north of Bristol, Gloucestershire. The area was developed in Victorian times. The County Ground (original the Ashley Down Ground) has been the home of Gloucestershire CCC since 1889, being built on land bought by W.G. Grace. The New Orphan Houses were built between 1849 and 1870 by the Prussian evangelist George Müller and remained an orphanage until 1958. The area is within the council area of Bristol.
