Ashgrove, Down

Ashgrove is an urban area in the north-east of Newry, in County Down. It is within the townlands of Drumcashellone and Carneyhough, in the civil parish of Newry. The area was developed from the 1950s, being named from Ash Grove House which formerly lay in the area. The Sacred Heart Grammar School moved from Castle Street to Ashgrove in 1985, occupying the former site of Ash Grove House. The Sisters of St Clare moved from the High Street to a new convent in Ashgrove in 2009. The area is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
