Ashford, Middlesex

Ashford is a suburban town in the Spelthorne area of Middlesex. Ashford is listed in Domesday as Exeforde. Although the town's origins are ancient, Ashford remained a small settlement until the later part of the 19th century since when it has become a suburban town with major development from the 1930s to the 1960s. St Matthew Church dates from 1858 but incorporates a 12th-century arch from an earlier Norman church. The town is within the council areas of Spelthorne district and Surrey county council.
