Ashford, Kent
Ashford is a town in Kent. It lies on the River Great Stour and on the eastern edge of the ancient forest of the Weald. It is listed in Domesday as 'Essetesford'. It has been a market town since the Middle Ages. It became a major railway hub in the 19th century. St Mary's Church dates from the 13th century. The town is within the council area of Ashford (Kent).
