Arno's Vale, Somerset

Arno's Vale is an urban area in south Bristol, Somerset. Arnos Court, now the Arnos Manor Hotel, was built in 1760 as the house of copper smelter William Reeve. Part of the estate became Arno's Vale Cemetery, opened in 1839 and designed by Charles Underwood in the style of a Greek Necropolis. Arnos Castle (aka Black Castle), 1745—55, is a folly in the form of a castle built from blocks created from waste slag. The area is within the council area of Bristol.
