Ardtole Church, Down
Ardtole Church is a ruined mediæval church, located on a prominent hilltop overlooking the sea in the civil parish of Ardglass, County Down. The long narrow church seems largely of 15th-century date, with a huge east window and opposed north and south doors, one with a draw-bar hole. There is a tradition that it was abandoned after a massacre. A cross slab of Early Christian type from the site is now built into the gable of the porch of the Catholic Church in Chapeltown. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
