Ardboe Cross, Tyrone

Ardboe Cross is a 10th-century high cross, located on a promontory on the shores of Lough Neagh in the civil parish of Arboe, County Tyrone. The cross marks the site of a monastery associated with St Colman, founded around the 6th century. The monastery was burnt down in 1166, but later became a mediæval church site. The cross stands at 18.5ft high. The twenty-two panels depict Old Testament stories and New Testament scenes. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Mid Ulster.
