Appleton, Cheshire

Appleton is a suburban village in Cheshire. The name "Appleton" was, until after the Second World War, used to refer to the main hamlet in Appleton parish. This hamlet is now known as "Appleton Thorn" and the name Appleton is used to refer to the suburban area which has been developed in the parish since the war. This area lies to the south of Stockton Heath and the Bridgewater Canal and includes the areas Appleton Park, Dudlow's Green, Pewterspear and Cobbs. It is within the council area of Warrington.
