Annahilt, Down

Annahilt (aka Anahilt) is a village in County Down. It is within the townland of Ballycrune, in the civil parish of Annahilt. Annahilt remained a hamlet around the main crossroads in Ballycrune townland until the mid 20th century, since when it has seen considerable housing development. The original schoolhouse (now part of a care home) dates from 1801. Annahilt Almshouses date from 1833. North of the village is the Church of the Ascension, Annahilt (C of I). Though the current building dates from 1856, there has been a church on this site since the 8th Century. The village is within the council area of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
