Allerton, Lancashire

Allerton is a suburb of Liverpool, Lancashire. Allerton was formerly a township which became, for local government purposes, an urban district from 1894-1913, at which time it was incorporated into the county borough of Liverpool. Most of the suburban housing was built after that time. Allerton Hall (1736) is the former home of the Hardamn family. Allerton Priory was designed by Alfred Waterhouse for Liverpool merchant John Grant Morris in the early 1800s. It is within the council area of Liverpool.
