Alfred's Castle, Berkshire
Alfred's Castle is a univallate hillfort near Ashdown House in Berkshire. The earthwork defences consist of a single rampart bank which measures between 10ft and 30ft wide and stands up to 5ft high. It was originally revetted with sarsen walls which can still be seen in places. It is within the council area of Vale of White Horse (Oxfordshire).
