Aldridge, Staffordshire
Aldridge is a town in Staffordshire. St Mary's Church dates from before 1257 and has a 14th-century tower. Aldridge grew from a village into a small industrial town during the 19th century, with the development of coal mines and lime kilns. It was only once it became the basis for an urban district in 1934 that it saw significant urban expansion. Aldridge is the hometown of paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds. The town is within the council area of Walsall.
