Alchester, Oxfordshire
Alchester is the site of an ancient Roman town near Bicester, Oxfordshire. Excavations suggest that it may have been one of the earliest legionary fortresses in Roman Britain after the invasion of AD 43. It is within the council area of Cherwell (Oxfordshire).
