Acton Bridge, Cheshire
Acton Bridge (formerly known as just Acton) is a village situated on the south bank of the River Weaver in Cheshire. The name of Acton railway station, which opened in 1837, was changed to Acton Bridge station in 1870, to distinguish it from other stations of the same name. The name refers to the nearby ancient crossing of the River Weaver. The village and civil parish also came to be known as Acton Bridge. The current Acton Swing Bridge across the Weaver opened in 1933. The village is within the council area of Cheshire West and Chester.
