Abbey Hulton, Staffordshire

Abbey Hulton is a suburban village in Staffordshire. It is listed in Domesday as 'Heltone'. The 'Abbey' comes from the Cistercian abbey founded here in 1223 (dissolved in 1538). It remained a small rural village into the 20th century, during which it saw large-scale suburban development. It is within the council area of Stoke-on-Trent.
