Abbess Roding is a village in Essex. Its name derives from the Abbess of Barking who was a patron of the parish church of St Edmund in the Middle Ages. The Rodings are a group of eight villages in the upper part of the River Roding, the largest group in the country to bear a common name. The village is within the council area of Epping Forest (Essex).
