Clapton, Middlesex   (Urban locality)

Clapton is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in the metropolitan district of Hackney, Middlesex. Clapton (until the 18th century 'Clopton') developed as a road-side linear settlement in the ancient parish of Hackney, to the north of Hackney and Homerton. From the early 19th century, manorial courts distinguished the parts north and south of Lea Bridge Road as Upper and Lower Clapton, a distinction which continues into the present day. The area is within the council area of Hackney.

Clapton Park, Middlesex   (Urban locality)

Clapton Park is an urban area in the north-east of the metropolitan district of Hackney, Middlesex. The area was developed from the 1860s on land that had been part of the Hackney House estate, the name being invented by the developers. Clapton, Upper, Middlesex   (Urban locality)

Upper Clapton forms the northern part of the Clapton area of the metropolitan district of Hackney, Middlesex. The area saw substantial urban development in the late 19th century. The 1930s saw another period of large-scale housing development. The Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lord is a Georgian Orthodox cathedral that first opened in 1892 as the Agapemonite Church of the Ark of the Covenant.
